Terms of Use

Last updated: September 5, 2026

These Terms of Use govern the Libraco website and mobile applications. The person or organisation operating Libraco is identified in our Legal Notice. Please read these Terms before creating an account or using the service. By creating an account or continuing to use Libraco after accepting these Terms, you agree to them.

1. Libraco's role

Libraco is a community platform for listing physical books and helping people arrange loans with one another. We do not sell books, become a party to a loan, take possession of any item, process payment, act as an escrow service, courier, insurer, library, or agent for a user. A listing, request, message, venue suggestion, review, or notification is not a guarantee that a book, person, or place is safe, accurate, available, or suitable.

Libraco is currently free. We will clearly present the price, scope, and applicable terms before any optional paid product or venue arrangement is offered.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old to create or use an account. You must provide accurate account information, protect your credentials, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You may not create accounts to evade a restriction or deletion, impersonate another person, or use the service on behalf of someone else without their authority.

You may sign in with Google, Apple, or an email address and password. Separate provider terms apply to those sign-in services. You can deactivate or request deletion of your account as described on our account deletion page.

3. Your content and licence

You keep the rights you hold in content you submit, including listings, reviews, images, messages, group content, reports, and venue proposals. You grant Libraco a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, adapt for technical delivery, display, and otherwise use that content only as needed to run, secure, moderate, and improve the service. The licence ends when the content is deleted, subject to copies that must remain temporarily in backups, records lawfully retained, or content already made available to another user as part of the service.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit content. Do not post content that is unlawful, infringes another person's rights, exposes private or personal information without permission, or violates our Community Guidelines.

Listings may be visible publicly with the information described in the Privacy Policy. We store approximate city location data used for discovery; do not treat the service as a way to share an exact address. Direct messages are available to the relevant chat participants and are processed through the service; they are not end-to-end encrypted.

4. Rules for using Libraco

You must not:

5. Loans, meetups, and safety

Users make loan and return arrangements directly with each other. You are responsible for deciding whether to lend or borrow, agreeing any return date, inspecting a book, and resolving loss, damage, or non-return. Libraco does not verify a user's identity, ownership of a listed book, book condition, or venue safety, and does not mediate financial claims.

Meet in a public location when appropriate, avoid sharing your home address until you are comfortable doing so, and stop an arrangement if you feel unsafe. Venue suggestions and map information are for convenience only. They are not endorsements, safety checks, or instructions to meet at a particular location.

6. Optional AI Shelf Scan

If you choose to use Shelf Scan, a photo you select is sent to OpenAI to identify possible books. Review each suggestion before adding it to your shelf. The feature can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable. Do not upload photos containing personal information or people unless you have a lawful basis to do so. More detail about this processing is in our Privacy Policy.

7. Reports, moderation, and complaints

You can report a user or content through the relevant in-app report controls, or email hello@libraco.appwith enough information for us to identify the material or account. This is also Libraco's point of contact for notices concerning allegedly unlawful content, including copyright complaints.

We may review reports and take proportionate action, including removing content, limiting its visibility, suspending features, or restricting or terminating an account. Where practicable, we will explain a material moderation decision. If you believe we made a mistake, reply to the decision notice or contact us at the address above with the relevant account and decision details. This does not replace any statutory complaint or redress right.

8. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Libraco at any time. We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users or the service, comply with law, investigate abuse, or address a security risk. We will act proportionately and, where feasible, provide notice and a reason. Ending access does not affect obligations or rights that by their nature continue afterwards.

9. Intellectual property

Libraco's software, branding, and original design are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not grant you rights to use them outside the service without our permission. Third-party book information, cover images, maps, and other provider material remain subject to their respective rights and terms.

10. Service availability and liability

We work to provide a reliable service, but we cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that user content, listings, AI output, or venue information is error-free. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, or mandatory consumer rights.

For a slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual duty, our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for that kind of contract. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded to the extent permitted by law. These limits also apply to the people acting on our behalf where legally permitted.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms when there is a valid reason, such as a change to the service, security, law, or a correction. For material changes, we will give reasonable advance notice through the app or another appropriate channel and ask for acceptance where required. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using Libraco and request account deletion.

12. Applicable law and contact

The law and venue applicable to a dispute are determined by the law that applies to the operator and by mandatory consumer protections. Questions, notices, and complaints can be sent to hello@libraco.app. Our Legal Noticecontains the operator's legal details.
